Peak District 2002

Speaks for itself really. Quite a lot of these lying around!
Once we got out onto the plateau at the top the wind really set in, so we
started taking shelter in the stream beds criss-crossing it. We had to leave
them after awhile to cut across the muddy bogs - unfortunately I don't have
a photo of the ladies who went up to their knees in mud!
A marvellous place for lunch - had a sort of biblical feel about it..
Once we'd made it across, the wind really hit is - I couldn't hear
anything for the next 3 hours of the walk.
At one point the wind-whipped gravel got so harsh, everyone huddled together
for a bit of shelter.. They should have tried wearing shorts - me and Dave
were hopping across the gravel stretches pretty sharpish!
Lord of all he surveys!
This is a man-made resevoir, but fairly picturesque nonetheless.
S'just a pool and some trees, innit?
I'm not quite sure how old this dam is - I hope it's younger than it looks,
I was a little nervous it might give way while I was under it..
At this point half the crowd had to vanish back home, leaving us die-hards
to punish- er, enjoy another day's hiking. Everyone smile!
