Lake District 2001
[Previous] [1-10] [11-20] [21-30] [31-40] [41-50] [51-60] [61-70] [71-80] [81-90] [91-99]
On the way we passed this remote little house. I suspect it's not occupied,
but the sheer thought of living without the essentials (piped water,
electricity and internet) just sent shivers down my spine. Good view, though.
That tarn was pretty sizable, actually - this shot shows less than half of it.
It was around this point we noticed the clouds rolling in a little.
This is what the others climbed - Scafell Pike itself (the little lump on
top) is hidden from view. Can't wait to see the photos they got, too...
We also noticed these weird cloud formations over Scafell as we were walking
back - fortunately they didn't indicate rain!
This fellow wasn't too keen on getting out of our way, but he toddled off
eventually. It was sort of unnerving to find a sheep which wasn't scared
of people (and, for that matter, birds, grass and clouds).
I think these guys were just a bit comfy to move.
The old Mill in Boot (where we walked from in Eskdale) had this pretty
little stream running alongside. I did warn you about me and rocky streams
earlier...
When the tide goes out in this place, it really goes out...
And then it was time for the traditional group photograph. Of course, once
I was no longer behind the viewfinder, my good karma (which makes a
surprisingly good alternative to photographic skill) deserted the camera
entirely. Ah well, at least I'd combed my hair...
