Another sunny Saturday, so I went for a stroll along the river towards Waterbeach. The flowers were out in force, and so were the rowers.

Cam Pillbox

As a potential invasion route the river Cam was dotted with these concrete bunkers, now standing as a stark reminder of how close we came to disaster.

Railway Bridge

This bridge forms the finish line of The Bumps, a quirky university boat race carried out a few times a year – over the years, it’s been decorated with the results.

Feeding Swan

This chap was busily diving for food – I managed to catch him on one of the few occasions his head was above the surface.

Fen Ditton Cottage

This beautiful house sits on the banks of the Cam around Fen Ditton – every time I see it, I wonder how many times I’d have to win the lottery to afford it.

Thumbnail
Fluorescent Flower

This beautiful little plant was particularly vivid in the bright sunlight, but sadly there weren’t many of them dotting the banks.

No Longer At The Back

I noticed that someone had fixed the graffiti that changed the meaning of this message somewhat. Shame they made such an obvious job of it, though.

Rippled Shadow

The shadow of the bridge against the brightly-lit water gave this funky natural gradient of dark to light. This shot is taken in full colour – it really did look like that.

Baits Bite Lock

A particularly picturesque lock on the Cam near Milton. I can imagine enjoying lazily drifting through places like this on a narrowboat – must get around to a canal holiday some time.

Buttercups

As I travelled further along the Cam, the river banks became increasingly verdant.

White Flowers

A splash of white among the deep green grass.
